This week we’re back in beautiful Ocho Rios, continuing my Sandals resort series — and today, I’m sharing my honest, from-the-heart thoughts on Sandals Ochi.
This resort is massive… full of life, laughter, and personality. If you love a big, social resort where something is always happening, this might just be your happy place. It’s the only Sandals with a nightclub, multiple piano bars, and of course, the legendary Rabit Hole speakeasy (yes — there’s a password to get in, and it changes daily!).
But beyond the buzz, there’s also a side to this resort that feels surprisingly soulful — full of history, charm, and those thoughtful Sandals details that make you fall in love with Jamaica all over again.

Resort Layout: Three Unique Vibes in One
1️⃣ Ochi Beach Club
This is where the fun begins! Picture lively beach days, upbeat music, and ocean breezes with a cocktail in hand. You won’t find rooms here, just sunshine, great food, and endless entertainment. It’s the heartbeat of the resort, especially if you love that vibrant, beach-party atmosphere.
2️⃣ The Riviera Side (My Favourite!)
This side completely stole my heart. Once known as “Sandals The Garden of Eden,” it’s lush, green, and full of character. Built around an enormous tree and peaceful ponds with Koi fish, it feels like a hidden tropical garden tucked away in the middle of paradise.
The rooms here are mostly entry-level and Club Level, but the location is so central that your steps from everything. In the evenings, everyone gathers at The Sundowner which is the main bar — the sunsets are beautiful, the energy is warm, and it’s where conversations turn into laughter and memories. ✨
3️⃣ The Hillside Village
Now this is where luxury lives! The Butler-level suites are modern, spacious, and many have private or semi-private pools – perfect for honeymooners or anyone who loves a quiet retreat.
That said, it’s a bit of a journey from the main area. You’ll take “The Hop” shuttle (every 10 minutes) and sometimes a golf cart to your room. I’ll be honest — if you forget something at the beach, it’s not a quick trip back. But once you’re settled in, the serenity up there feels like your own little world.
The Hillside also has a gorgeous pool, the spa, a few great dining spots, and the famous Rabit Hole itself.

Dining & Drinks
With 16 restaurants, Sandals Ochi is a foodie’s dream. Italian, Asian, Caribbean, French, seafood, steakhouse, food trucks, and the beloved Jerk Shack — it’s all here.
My personal favourite? Kelly’s Dockside.
This one truly touched my heart.
It sits right on the water where the waves softly kiss the dock – and it’s where Butch’s Mother lived, he loved going there to fish.
Dining here feels like stepping into a piece of Sandals’ family story.
As you sit under the string lights with the sea sparkling beneath you, you can almost imagine Butch nearby fishing.
That same love for Jamaica and hospitality lives on in every detail. It feels like a love letter to the island that started it all.
Miss Ethel’s Piano Bar — which makes it even more special.
This cozy, elegant space actually sits inside the very house where Butch Stewart’s mother once lived. You can feel the history in the walls….

My Honest Take
Sandals Ochi is the kind of resort that truly offers something for everyone.
It’s perfect for couples who want energy, nightlife, and options, but also space to unwind when you’re ready to slow down. It’s one of the most affordable Sandals resorts, yet still delivers the full Sandals experience of romance, luxury, and connection.
That said, if mobility is a concern, this isn’t the easiest resort to navigate — it’s hilly, with stairs and plenty of walking.
Guests staying here can’t visit Sandals Royal Plantation or Sandals Dunn’s River, but guests from those resorts can visit Ochi — and I highly recommend they do! Have dinner at Kelly’s Dockside, step inside The Rabit Hole, and soak in the lively energy that makes this property so unique.
And don’t forget — golf, scuba diving (for certified divers), snorkeling, and non-motorized water sports are all included. There’s always something to do!
