It’s that time of year again… the calendar fills up fast, invitations start coming in from every direction, and suddenly you feel like you’re being pulled everywhere at once. If you say yes to everything, you’re exhausted. If you say no, you feel judged… or worse, like you’re letting people down. And even though everyone usually means well… man, the pressure can feel overwhelming.
More and more families are choosing to do something different.
Some decide to completely skip the traditional holidays — not because they don’t love their people, but because they’re tired, burned out, or simply craving peace instead of chaos. Others choose to travel because the holidays remind them too much of loved ones they’ve lost, and staying home feels heavier than leaving.
And you know what? Every single one of those reasons is valid.
If you ever decide — even just once —that the traditional holidays aren’t what your heart needs that year, please don’t feel guilty. An invitation is just that… an invitation. You’re allowed to accept it. You’re also allowed to politely decline it. You’re allowed to choose yourself.
After all, “Happy Holidays” is supposed to mean you’re happy too, whatever that looks like for you. Maybe that’s surrounded by family in your living room. Or maybe it’s barefoot on a beach, watching the sunset with a cocktail in hand, far away from expectations, obligations, and stress 🌴✨
So if this is the year you’re craving something different… if your heart is whispering that you need an escape instead of another gathering… don’t ignore that feeling. And if you want help exploring what that escape could look like for you, I’m always here to help you make that happen.
